A CTEV (Congenital Talipes Equinovarus) corrective shoe is a specially designed orthopedic shoe used in the treatment and maintenance phase of clubfoot correction in children. After initial correction through the Ponseti method (serial casting and possibly tenotomy), these shoes are used to maintain the corrected position and prevent relapse. The CTEV shoe typically features a straight last (no curve in the sole), a raised inner border, and firm ankle support to hold the foot in the desired abducted and dorsiflexed position. It is usually attached to a Denis Browne bar or foot abduction brace, which connects both shoes at a specific angle. The shoes are worn full-time initially, then gradually reduced as the child grows. Proper fit and regular follow-up are essential to ensure continued correction. CTEV corrective shoes play a vital role in the long-term success of clubfoot treatment.

The Dennis Brown splint is an orthopedic device used primarily in the treatment of clubfoot (Congenital Talipes Equinovarus or CTEV) during the maintenance phase after initial correction, typically following the Ponseti method. It consists of two open-toed shoes attached to a metal or plastic bar, set at a specific outward angle (usually 60–70 degrees) to maintain the corrected position of the feet. The bar keeps the feet abducted and prevents relapse of the deformity by holding the foot in a corrected position. The splint is usually worn full-time for the first 3–4 months after casting, then at night and during naps until the age of 4–5 years. Proper fitting and regular follow-up are essential to ensure effectiveness and avoid skin irritation or discomfort. The Dennis Brown splint plays a critical role in ensuring long-term success of clubfoot correction and preventing recurrence.
